The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia aka General Mosquito, said President Akufo-Addo is now Ghana's constitution.

Speaking to the Ashanti regional youth wing of the NDC in Kumasi on Sunday, February 6, 2022, he said the Nana Addo-led government is a threat to Ghana's democratic principles.

He said the 1992 Constitution of Ghana exists as a watchdog against dictatorship but Akufo Addo is rather taking a different path.

“It appears we don’t have any constitution in Ghana now; the only constitution we have is Akufo-Addo. He takes decisions without recourse to the constitution. The constitution is there to guide our leaders so that they don’t become monsters, but Akufo-Addo is largely pulling us out of the democratic system. We’ll resist it,” he said.

The General Secretary was of the view that the President is to be blamed for the chaos Ghanaians witnessed in Parliament last year.
