Villa's homegrown midfielder Jacob Ramsey, 20, scored twice in the first half by latching on to passes from Coutinho, who inspired a dramatic turnaround with a fine equalizer after Dan James' opener.

After inspiring Aston Villa against Leeds, Steven Gerrard praised Philippe Coutinho's "vintage" performance and tipped Jacob Ramsey to play for England.

Ramsey, a 20-year-old Villa midfielder, scored twice in the first half after latching on to passes from Coutinho, who inspired a dramatic turnaround with a fine equalizer after Dan James' opener.

He then provided two intelligent assists for Ramsey, ensuring that he now has the same number of assists as Jack Grealish this season, following the former Villa captain's departure to Manchester City.

James then scored his second to make it 3-2 before the break, and Diego Llorente equalized in the second half as Ezri Konsa was cautioned for the second time.

Coutinho was also replaced in the 78th minute after collapsing and clutching his knee.

Gerrard, on the other hand, insisted it was just cramp and added, "It was vintage Philippe Coutinho."

"He appears to be content; we have given him permission to return to the field and enjoy his football once more."

"If you don't enjoy watching his vision and awareness, you should stop watching football."

After his brace, Gerrard also predicted Ramsey would play for England.

It brought the starlet's tally this season to five goals, and ex-Liverpool and England midfield dynamo Gerrard believes the England U21 international will soon be given full international recognition.

"It won't be long before the entire country is watching him," he predicted.

"I know the level of the England players, and he's right up there, believe me."

It is only a question of how long in my view

"He's getting stronger and better with each game," he says. "People are going to be watching."

Leeds fought back from a 3-1 deficit to earn a point, with Wales star James leading the attack.

"It was important to score that goal before halftime to give us that lift," James said.
