Longest serving General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has revealed to Ghanaians what the NDC will do if the controversial e-levy bill is passed in Parliament.
Addressing a charged crowd of protesters against the levy at the Obra Spot, the Chief Scribe of the opposition party boldly promised that in an unlikely event that the e-levy is passed, the opposition National Democratic Congress will scrap it in the first 100 days after winning the 2024 elections.
"In an unlikely event that e-levy is passed against the will of Ghanaians, the NDC will abolish it in the first 100 days when it wins the 2024 elections", he said.
Ghanaians have thronged the streets of the capital to register their displeasure with the introduction of the electronic transaction levy by the government. After many failed attempts by the government to get the bill passed, the government is holding nationwide Town Hall meetings to explain to Ghanaians what the e-levy is about.
The "Yentua Demo" organized by the youth wing of the NDC, pressure groups and allied groups has attracted thousands of Ghanaians to protest against the levy.
