Barcelona were "sniffing around" to sign Liverpool target Fabio Carvalho in January, according to transfer source Dean Jones.
The Reds were interested in signing the Fulham teenager last month, but he chose to stay with the Championship club.
Carvalho, whose contract expires at the conclusion of the season, will have to make a crucial decision this summer.
What is the most recent Carvalho news?
According to The Athletic, Carvalho had completed a physical in London ahead of a potential transfer and was on the verge of sealing a deadline day move to Liverpool. The deal fell through in the last hours of the window, however, when the Reds were unable to submit their paperwork on time.
Despite his disappointment, Carvalho has handled the failure of his transfer perfectly. In his first game since the January window closed, he scored the opening goal in the FA Cup against Manchester City before assisting in Fulham's midweek triumph over Millwall.
When was Liverpool Football Club established?
Jurgen Klopp was asked about Carvalho's interest before of Liverpool's FA Cup match, and said that his team would be "crazy" if he wasn't still interested.
Despite signing three strikers in January in the form of Ferran Torres, Adama Traore, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Jones believes Liverpool will face competition from Barcelona for his signature this summer.
Jones had something to say about Carvalho.
"There's no hint of anything going on at the moment," he told GIVEMESPORT, "but I know for a fact that Barcelona were sniffing about, and given what they're doing, you wouldn't blame Fabio Carvalho for thinking 'why not?'"

Will Liverpool be able to hold off Barca's challenge?
Despite Jones' confirmation that Barcelona is interested, the signings of Torres, Traore, and Aubameyang will make signing a third player in as short a time as possible.
Furthermore, Klopp has stated that Liverpool is still interested in signing the 19-year-old, and the teenager has expressed his desire to transfer to Anfield.
As a result, if Carvalho's contract does not expire and he does not sign an extension, he will almost certainly join Liverpool.
