After finishing third in their Champions League group, Barcelona is set to face Napoli in the Europa League play-offs.
While some clubs would relish reaching the knockout stages of Europe's second most prestigious tournament, it is a sign of just how far Barcelona has fallen.
The club, on the other hand, appears to be either unaware of or unwilling to recognize this, instead posting on social media that the Europa League trophy was missing from the Camp Nou's sparkling museum.
As a result, many fans of both the club and rival clubs mocked the Spanish giants.
One fan referred to it as a "crazy spin," while another stated, "I'd rather come last in the group stage and be sent out."
One fan pointed the finger at Xavi, claiming that the renowned player turned manager had led'my lovely club to the europa league,' followed by a broken heart emoji.
Another commenter claimed that the club sends out embarrassing tweets every day, while another claimed that there was a'very excellent explanation' why the Europa League was not in Barcelona's trophy cabinet.
One tweet further joked that the club's trophy cabinet was lacking the Conference League trophy.
Regardless of whether or not fans like it, a Europa League victory for Barcelona might be extremely beneficial, given that the team is now fourth in La Liga and is in danger of falling out of the Champions League places. If they win the event, they will be eligible to compete in the top competition the following season.
