Manchester United defeated Brighton 2-0 on Tuesday, and David de Gea has spoken out about what happened in the United locker room.
Ralf Rangnick told Manchester United to press harder at halftime on Tuesday night, according to David de Gea.
United defeated Brighton 2-0 at Old Trafford to move up to fourth place in the Premier League, but the game was far from easy.
Graham Potter's side matched United in the first half and caused them problems, but it was the Reds who scored the game's opening goal after the break when Cristiano Ronaldo found the back of the net.
Shortly after that goal, Lewis Dunk was sent off, and Bruno Fernandes' goal in stoppage time secured the three points.
Although Brighton were reduced to ten men in the second half, United looked better, and De Gea revealed after the game that interim manager Rangnick told his players in the dressing room at halftime to press higher up the pitch.
"The message [at halftime] was that we were playing at home, and we pressed high in the second half," De Gea explained to BBC Sport.
"We had control of the game after the red card, and there was a five-minute period when they returned.
"We should be fighting for more than just the top four, but that is not the case. There are numerous teams vying for the same position and with the quality we have we should win a lot of points."
United play Leeds next at Elland Road on Sunday, 20 February.
