Former President John Mahama has debunked charges that he is plotting to overthrow the government in an unlawful manner.
In a statement issued on February 16, Mr Mahama denied any claims of a coup, calling them "fake."
Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was granted bail after being accused with publishing false news and offensive behaviour conducive to breach of peace.
Mr Baffoe stated that the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) 2020 presidential candidate had prepared a coup against the government.
When questioned by the authorities, he was unable to back up his claims.
The claims, according to a statement written by Mr Mahama's Special Aide, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, were made up stories meant to sow discontent with him.
"This is not the first time Abronye has made such nasty and reprehensible charges about President Mahama and many other senior members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and forced them to be published."
