UTAG CALLS OFF THE STRIKE ACTION – EDUCATION COMMITTEE
According to the ranking member of the Education Committee,
Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, who said UTAG will declare their intention after
consultation with members, that is after UTAG has agreed to call off the
strike.
The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) leadership, has agreed in
principle to call off their strike after an important meeting with the
Education committee of Parliament.
The meeting with the education Committee featured UTAG, the
Minister for employment and Labour
Relations as well as officials of the Fair Wages and Salaries
Commission.
The Ranking Member of the Education Committee Peter
Nortsu-Kotoe on Metro Tv via phone call at 4pm news today said “After listening to the cases, we
realised that there will be the need for more dialogue. We finally appealed as
a committee to UTAG to call off the strike which they agreed in principle. We
expect they will call of the Strike toady and then continue with negotiations”.
Though UTAG will be calling off the strike but the substantive motion is yet to be heard in court as expected on Tuesday, February 22, 2022.
