Mikel Arteta provides an update on the situation of Arsenal's Bukayo Saka, whose contract is set to end in the summer of 2023.

Mikel Arteta has stated that Arsenal would do everything possible to persuade Bukayo Saka to remain and sign a new contract, despite reports that Liverpool FC is eager to sign the England international.

Saka is widely regarded as one of England's most impressive young attacking talents, and his recent performances have earned him a lot of praise.

"The 20-year-old has six goals and 4 assists in 22 Premier Matches this season, and he has been a regular in Arsenal's squad as they push for a top-four final under Mikel Arteta.

Saka's career at Arsenal has recently become a topic of discussion as his contract expires. His current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and reports in the British press suggest that Liverpool FC and Manchester City may be interested in signing him in the summertime if Arsenal fails to qualify for the Champions League.

However, Arsenal manager Arteta has now reaffirmed the club's stance as the club seeks to extend the contract of one of their rare and valuable assets beyond the end of his deal in 2023. In an interview with The Daily Express, Arteta stated, "Obviously, our urge is to keep Bukayo for as long as possible."

"He is an aspect of our club, our DNA; he is maturing and growing." His contribution to the team is undeniable, and we want to retain our best players at the club.

"It's a conversation that we'll have with the player, again with his agent, then with his family so that everyone is on board."

Arteta also did admit that ranking in the top four and qualifying for next season's Champions League was important to him.

Arteta also acknowledged that finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League next season could be crucial.

"Everything helps," he continued, "because our fiscal situation is going to be assessed by how good we are, where we finish."

"That will benefit our sponsorship, marketing, and ticket sales." It all starts with how well we perform on that pitch."

Meanwhile, Saka admits he aspires to play in the Champions League, saying recently, "I think the Champions League ends up creating so many special nights, and it's still a dream for me to experience one of them, and hopefully many more."
