On Monday, the Asokwa District Court dismissed a KNUST lecturer who was on trial for the alleged kidnapping of his wife, a Lands Commission employee. On the other hand, Dr. Wilberforce Nkrumah Aggrey, on the other hand, was quickly re-arrested after winning his freedom. Since his arrest on October 6, 2021, for his suspected role in the disappearance of his wife, Rhodaline Amoah-Darko, he has been in police prison. Rhodaline, a Senior Lands Administrative Officer of 32 years old, has been missing since August 30, 2021. Preliminary police investigations linked Dr. Aggrey of KNUST's Petroleum Department to a written kidnapping note. He's also suspected of sending text messages from a location near his KNUST residence using his wife's phone.
He was granted some relief for the first time in months. What caused the drama?
Because the presiding magistrate, His Worship Korkor Achaw Owusu, was on leave, the court deferred the case to Monday, February 21, 2022.
During Monday's session, the accused's attorney, Frederick Kankam, and the Attorney-representative General were in court.
When the hearing resumed, a representative from the Attorney General's office informed the court that a fresh charge had been brought against the accused individual at the Kumasi High Court.
Mubarak Kadida, who represented Charles Edward Addo Yirenkyi in court, requested that the accused be discharged.
The court dismissed the accused based on fresh information from the Attorney General's office.
