Zoomlion Ghana Limited (ZGL), in partnership with the government, has begun a cleaning procedure at the Kotoka International Airport amid uncertainty about whether the coronavirus has left the country (KIA).

The practice is part of a monthly regimen intended to control the virus's transmission, which is still present in the country.

On the sidelines of the February 2022 exercise, Enoch Mintah, a Zoomlion Vector Control Officer, informed the media on the sidelines that his organization was still dedicated to safeguarding the safety of KIA workers and the general public.

"In the struggle against COVID-19, we will not let our guard down," he assured.

This, he claims, was critical in protecting lives at a time when most individuals appeared to have relaxed their vigilance, despite the fact that the virus was still present.

The drill took place last Tuesday at 1:00 a.m. so as not to disrupt airport operations.

The arrival and departure halls, washrooms, flooring, furniture, and open areas in the halls were all thoroughly disinfected by a Zoomlion crew of sprayers.

The airport's atmosphere and open areas were also sanitized completely.

Viruses, according to Mr. Mintah, go through different phases at different times, necessitating his company's need to change its methodology and chemicals to stay ahead of them.

"Viruses are always mutating, and the airport has become a constant hotbed for them."

While reminding Ghanaians to follow the COVID safety measures, he emphasized the importance of the exercise in preventing the virus from spreading further.

"Every festive season gives new potential for the virus to spread," he said, noting that "people returning to the nation can conceivably bring the infection into the country."

According to him, travelers might readily spread the illness, necessitating the need to reassure airport employees and the broader public of their safety and assuage their anxieties.

Zoomlion, he claimed, is able to use the proper chemicals to cope with the infection based on studies.

As a result, he urged Ghanaians to continue to follow the safety precautions in order to prevent the virus from spreading.
