In the early hours of yesterday, the leadership of Students Representative Council (SRC) and Local NUGS of University of Education, Winneba led by His Excellency Felix Donkor the SRC President of UEW, paid a courtesy visit to Nenyi Ghartey VII, Paramount Cheif of the Effutu Municipality for the first time since assuming office. The meeting according to the SRC is to help build a sustainable partnership between the Council and the Traditional rulers in order to make it possible for collective fights for the interest of students.
Mr. Felix Donkor in his remarks indicated that he believes the Traditional authority can be of help to aid in resolving some of the challenges faced by students, particularly accommodation and security.
Nenyi Ghartey also thanked the council for reaching out to him and gave them assurance and also indicated that some steps have already been taken on them and the reiteration by the council will only mean continuous effort from his office. He also advised students to pay attention to the main reason for being in school and work towards attaining that.
He added that his doors remain open for the council and he is ready to support through all means possible and available at his disposal.
