Pep Guardiola appears to believe that if Arsenal keeps Mikel Arteta as manager next season, the club will take a "step forward."
Arsenal's season has been largely disappointing, with the north London club having trouble finding reliable form in the Premier League and being knocked out of cup competitions.
Arsenal are currently outside of the Europa League qualification spots for next season, and it remains to be seen whether they will be able to secure their place in Europe for the next season with two games remaining.
Arteta worked for Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, who recently led the Citizens to the Premier League title.
Guardiola is also hoping to lead Manchester City through their first Champions League title this season, as they aim to finish the season with three trophies.
Guardiola clearly admires Arteta and believes Arsenal would be wise to keep him beyond this season, despite the Gunners' stuttering form.
Guardiola stated in an interview with Metro, "We [Manchester City] have ambition because we have sustained success, work ethic, and many stuff for a long, long time."
“Of course, I never expected to be honest three times in four years because I know how quickly all of it changes in this country, but we were always there.
"Even last season, we couldn't compete with Liverpool, who were unstoppable, but we were 2nd, we were there, every season we are right near the top, and our goal for next season is to be close to the top."
"Every season, I have the impression that, in comparison to the 1st year I showed up, the opponents and managers are stronger."
"Manchester United are strong every year; Liverpool will be back next season; they have been unfortunate with many injury problems in the same position."
“Chelsea doesn't have to say what's going to happen, Leicester... Every season, everyone says, 'Oh Leicester,' [and writes them off].
"Arsenal... they have faith in Mikel since I know him so well, and they will take a step further next season."
"Many, many clubs are watching West Ham's performance this season. Many clubs, which is why it's a huge accomplishment this season because of the massive challengers we had."
Arsenal will return to Premier League action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Crystal Palace.
