The Member of Parliament for the Tamale North, Honorable Alhassan Suhuyini, made a statement that the Nhyiaeso MP, Honorable Stephen Amoah translated as an insult, languages in an attempt to explain why the minority caucus is doing everything they can to prevent the e-levy from being passed.
"My people in Tamale say that if you discover someone pounding fufu with poison in his armpit, it's because he either pounded the fufu and then didn't get any to eat or he hammered the fufu and then didn't get any to eat."
The adage, according to Stephen Amoah, means that the NDC MPs do not want the e-levy to pass since they know they will not benefit from it. "They think that those with wisdom understand proverbs," Alhassan Suhuyini said.
"You want to make fun of me. Thank you for letting me know that I am not wise and naive "Stephen Amoah retorted angrily.
Honorable Alhassan Bashir Fuseini, a member of Parliament for the Sagnarigu constituency, has responded to Speaker Alban Bagbin's comments about the Deputy Speaker's act and the misconduct of members of Parliament. Speaker Bagbin had been gracious in his remarks, according to Honorable Fuseini. Speaking on Joy News,Alhassan Bashir Fuseini asserted frankly that what Alban Bagbin done was not the correct thing. If he had been the speaker, he claims he would have severely rebuked Joseph Osei Owusu.
"Mr. Speaker on this occasion should have called him to order. He should have gone back and renewed the motion instead of doing what he did ", he clarified. Alhassan Bashir Fuseini expressed his dissatisfaction with the majority caucus' refusal to account to Ghanaians for how COVID-19 funds were spent. Later, he backed the Speaker, who was enraged by the Members of Parliament's behavior. It was not, he claims, a gesture of respect.
