The Italian media has been awash with rumors about the future of Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, who is rumored to be on his way out of the club.

Arsenal, one of the Premier League clubs said to be interested in the 24-year-old, is said to have begun negotiations for the signing.

The Gunners have taken "the first steps" toward signing Martinez, according to FC Inter 1908 coverage of a story from today's newspaper Il Giorno.

The striker's future is being scrutinized.

Inter Milan considers Martinez to be a valuable asset and may decide to sell him this summer. That's why they'd let him go for the 'best offer' and reinvest the money in the squad, though the amount the Gunners would have to put on the table to meet that criterion hasn't been disclosed.

The Argentine, who still believes he has a future with the club, must now await their decision.

If a transfer to Arsenal becomes available, it will most likely be up to Mikel Arteta to persuade the player, as other clubs such as Manchester United are circling.
