Host of Good Morning Ghana, Dr. Randy Abbey sends message to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.
Dr. Randy Abbey, host of Good Morning Ghana has described the Speaker as an enabler of unconstitutional and illegal actions.
On his show last Wednesday, Dr. Randy Abbey indicated that the Speaker has on two different occasions read the 1992 constitution and the standing orders of Parliament and interpreted to establish the illegal actions of the 1st deputy Speaker.
It will be recalled that the 1st deputy Speaker of Parliament overturned the decision of the house to reject the 2022 budget statement after the majority side staged a walk out in 2021.
Joe Osei Wusu again rejected a motion to establish a bipartisan committee to investigate the covid-19 expenditure of government tabled by the minority after the Speaker admitted same. The 1st deputy Speaker's decision enraged the Speaker and he cautioned the house to be circumspect.
Reacting to the issue, Dr. Abbey said "Mr. Speaker, on two occasions, you have read the constitution and interpreted it taking us through the standing orders all to establish the constitutionality and Illegality of the actions of the 1st deputy Speaker sitting as Speaker.
On both occasions, after establishing what was done was unconstitutional and illegal, you have said you will let it slide. Mr. Speaker, respectfully that makes you an enabler of unconstitutional and illegal actions".
