Alexander Afenyo Markins has advised contenders of party positions at all levels to iron out their differences and do away with acrimony, backbiting and bickering.

Member of Parliament for the Effutu constituency and deputy majority leader, Alexander Afenyo Markins has warned against tendencies where members of the New Patriotic Party seeking leadership positions work to undermine each other.

He described the tendencies as irritatingly early and advised that contenders must iron out their differences on party and personal issues without the usual resultant acrimony, backbiting and bickering.

Addressing the New Patriotic Party's Parliamentary caucus, he expressed fear the dream of continuing to be in power after 2024 may hit the rocks if the tendencies listed is not checked.

"It seems irritatingly early to a large extent perilous for those of our compatriots contending for leadership at various levels".

The ruling New Patriotic Party began it's preparations for the 2024 elections last week by officially announcing the dates for their elections at all levels and release of nomination forms for polling station elections which is expected to be held this weekend across the over 3,000 polling stations.

The process in some areas of the Eastern and Ashanti Regions  degenerated into chaos and violence as some party officers were accused of shelving the forms for their preferred candidates.
