Harold Adlai Agyeman, Ghana's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, has restated Ghana's support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Ambassador Agyeman, speaking at an emergency UN Security Council meeting just before Russian soldiers invaded Ukraine on Thursday, called the situation in Ukraine as alarming.
On Wednesday, February 23, he declared, "The situation has ramifications not only for Ukraine and its near neighbors, but also for all of our countries."
"Security is indivisible, and one person's insecurity is everyone's insecurity."
The emergency meeting took place just a few days after the United Nations Security Council discussed the situation in the region on Monday, February 21.

"We are concerned about the risks that an escalation of the situation in Ukraine poses to global peace and security," Ghana's UN representative stated. "Those who choose the path of conflict rather than peace bear the consequences of their actions."
"Reports of the start of hybrid warfare against Ukraine, including attempts at cyberattacks against parts of its essential infrastructure, concern us."
Ambassador Agyeman also encouraged Russia to reconsider its plans, encouraging Ukraine to remain calm.
"Although it may be begging the question, it is worth reiterating. Ghana unwaveringly supports Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity as a bona fide United Nations Member State, whose participation in the Organization provides her with guarantees over its internationally recognized borders, which are the same borders with which she entered the Organization."
President Vladimir Putin of Russia has already been chastised by foreign leaders for his actions.
On Thursday, the European Union convened to deliberate on the next course of action.
Ghana, on the other hand, advised everyone to "show caution in their separate unsettling but acceptable conditions around the world and to support the collective security mechanism established by the United Nations Charter."
"Any conflicts in international relations that may occur must be resolved by peaceful and legal means."
