Trevoh Chalobah, a Chelsea trainee, has spoken about how Antonio Rudiger has aided his development at the London club.
Before making his first senior debut for Chelsea this season, the 22-year-old experienced loan spells with Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town, and Lorient.
Chalobah, who has appeared in 21 games across all competitions this season, is now considered a full member of the team squad. He complimented Antonio Rudiger, a Chelsea defender, for his advice, saying:
‘’Toni (Antonio Rudiger) is from Sierra Leone, where I was born, and my brother [Nathaniel, who won the Premier League with Chelsea in 2017] instructed him to care after me when he first arrived. I used to hang out with him at his place and we'd chill, and if I came over to practise, he'd find me and assist me."
Chalobah added;
"He was the only one that season who believed in me and told me to keep going," Chalobah said. The following year, I went on loan for the first of three seasons, and he kept pushing me, 'Keep going, keep going.' "I know you're capable of playing for this football team." He'll always let me know how things are going and what I need to do. He'll talk to me like a grown man, not a child. That's what's kept me on my toes for the most part. You've seen how active he is on the field, and that's how I want to be as well."
Chalobah has three goals in 21 outings for Chelsea this season after signing a new contract in November last year.
