Prevalent boxer, Michael Ayittey Okai, aka ‘Ayittey Powers’, has showed up before a Kaneshie District Court for purportedly swindling a building temporary worker of GH¢45,000.
Ayittey Powers purportedly collected the sum to secure the temporary worker an Australian Visa and incorporate him in his group for a boxing challenge in Australia, but fizzled to fulfill his guarantee.
Ayittey Powers, who was charged with swindling by untrue pretenses, argued not blameworthy.
The case was suspended to Walk 18, and the court, directed over by Ms Ama Adomako Kwakye, requested the arraignment to record divulgences.
The court cancelled a seat warrant issued for the capture of Ayittey Powers, and conceded him to self-recognizance safeguard.
When the court inquired the boxer why he fizzled to seem in court on January 18, 2022, he said he was not mindful the case was being listened on the date.
Chief Auditor Lawrence K. Anane told the court that the police called the boxer’s phone number, but his phone was off and endeavors to contact him through his sureties were unsuccessful.
In the mean time, the attorney of the boxer, implored the court to confess his client to safeguard, and guaranteed that in a months’ time, the denounced would settle the case with the complainant.
Arraigning, Chief Examiner Anane said the complainant, John Kobina Favoring, dwelled at Madina, Accra, whereas Ayittey Powers dwelled at Mamprobi.
The indictment said last year, the blamed guaranteed to include the complainant to a group that was expected to require portion in a boxing challenge in Australia on the off chance that the complainant pays GHC45,000 for the trip.
Chief Insp Anane said afterward, the charged supposedly driven the complainant to Mavis Quarshie, who was to help within the procurement of a visa for the complainant.

Chief Insp Anane said the complainant detailed the case to the police when he did not get the visa, driving to the capture of Quarshie.
The arraignment said amid cross examination, Quarshie demonstrated that the blamed took the money from her as before long as the complainant given it to her.
