Everton chief Frank Lampard has gotten an individual statement of regret from PGMOL overseeing chief Mike Riley following the dubious choice to not grant Everton a penalty during their Premier League meeting with Manchester City on Saturday.

With the Toffees following 1-0 the ball appeared to strike Rodri's hand in the City box, yet referee Paul Tierney was not intrigued and the choice was unusually not alluded to VAR.

After the game Everton submitted an authority question to the Premier League and as indicated by Sky Sports News the head of refereeing in England has answered, calling Lampard and Everton executive Bill Kenwright to say sorry.

After the game Lampard was left raging, saying in a meeting: "The choice is amazing, staggering, and that loses us the potential chance to get what we merited."

He violently added: "We've lost a point due to an expert who can't go about his business right. You begin looking for whys and I can't think why. It is so awkward to miss the point entirely.

"Pep [Guardiola] will know, Everton fans will know, Man City fans will know, it was the most clear penalty you could give: arm is out - extraordinary, beneath the sleeve - incredible, I was hanging tight for the penalty.

"Inadequacy, best case scenario, even from a pessimistic standpoint who knows? I'll sit tight for the assertion or expression of remorse they do when things are off-base yet it will amount to nothing."

Regardless of Lampard's provocative remarks he has not been fined by the FA.
