THE RALF RANGNICK MYTH HAS BEEN DEBUNKED, PUTTING CRISTIANO RONALDO'S CAREER AT MANCHESTER UNITED IN JEOPARDY.

Manchester United are still chasing a top-four finish, but were held by Watford last time out, with their dearth of goals appearing to be unrelated to interim manager Ralf Rangnick's coaching.

Manchester United's goal drought isn't due to a lack of coaching; since Ralf Rangnick's arrival, the Red Devils have created more chances than any other team.

The German took over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in December, and his debut match was a 1-0 triumph over Crystal Palace.

United has continued to improve their form as they aim for a top-four finish and a place in the Champions League next season.

However, the players - and their interim leader - continue to be chastised for their performances, which are hidden by the results for some.

Rangnick, on the other hand, does not appear to be solely to fault. United have created 160 opportunities since his appointment, more than any other team.

The problem is their conversion rate, which is only the fourth best in the Premier League with only 20 goals scored in the same time span.

Will Manchester United be able to finish in the top four? Let us know what you think in the comments!

Man United have been wasteful in front of goal under Ralf Rangnick.

United have suffered as a result of wasteful displays, and Cristiano Ronaldo's recent issues have highlighted their problems in front of goal.

The 37-year-old has only scored once since the turn of the year, with his goal against Brighton breaking a six-game goalless slump, his longest in over a decade.

This could have more repercussions for Ronaldo, who is already failing to persuade Rangnick in the long run.

The German is said to have reservations about the Portuguese star's ability to lead the assault, citing criticism of Ronaldo's approach, particularly his lack of work off the ball.

Rangnick will continue to have an effect at Old Trafford as a consultant, even if he steps down in the summer.

That will undoubtedly influence recruitment, with Ronaldo potentially departing the club if they choose to go in a different way, according to reports.

United needs new faces in the final third recently, according to the interim manager.

"It's self-evident [that United requires a striker]," Rangnick added.

"Edinson's contract expires in the summer, and the team is in desperate need of a new centre-forward. That is something I believe everyone is aware of."

In four of their last six games, United has been limited to one goal or less.

Cristiano Ronaldo has intimated that he may leave Manchester United if the team is unable to compete for titles.

Within the next 18 months, Cristiano Ronaldo and the club may part ways.

The most recent was last Saturday's goalless draw at Old Trafford versus Watford.

Despite their efforts, Rangnick's team was unable to penetrate the Hornets' defense.

"As coaches, our duty is to help the side create enough chances," the interim manager said after the game to BBC Sport.

"We had to have had enough clean chances today to win a game like this."

"We did everything except score," he continued. It's difficult to accept that outcome. Finally, it is tough to win a game if you miss so many opportunities.

Last time out, the Red Devils were unable to break down Watford.

"We were in complete control for almost the entire game, we didn't allow them hardly any counter attacks," said the manager.

"If someone had told me we'd produce that many clear chances, I would have answered, "Yes, that's enough for us to score at least one goal." We, on the other hand, did not."

This season, no United player has scored more than ten goals in the Premier League, with Ronaldo leading the way with nine."If someone had told me we'd produce that many clear chances, I would have answered, "Yes, that's enough for us to score at least one goal." We, on the other hand, did not."
