There has been a history between Ghana and Russia. This history was in a form of military assistance to Ghana after Ghana gained independence.
It is not shocking to know that, there was a relationship between Ghana and other European and American countries, as well as China. Meanwhile, it does not look obvious for Ghana to have had a relationship with Russia, there was actually one and it was a Military Relationship.
On Okay Fm, Prof. Kwabena Ofori-Attah, who was alive when Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was president of Ghana, has signified that, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah had Terrorist Camps In Ghana, one was in a town close to Konongu, others in the Western, the Northern and the Eastern Regions of Ghana. These camps were used to train individuals to fight. He indicated that, Russian personnels were brought to Ghana to train individuals within these camps. He continued that, at that time in history, these trained individual were known as Freedom Fighters.
These Freedom Fighters as indicated were being trained to go fight in south Africa during the Apartheid period. Meanwhile, he indicated that, other schools of thought indicates that, these Freedom Fighters were going to be used to fight off presidents in other African Countries.
This signifies that, the military foundation of Ghana, has some element of Russian military ordinances. It also indicates that, the relationship between Russia and Ghana, has been in existence for a very long time.
