Jurgen Klopp's contract at Liverpool expires in the summer of 2024, and it's unclear whether the German coach will stay at the Premier League club after that date.

Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he "doesn't know" if he will stay at Liverpool after 2024.

The German coach has only two and a half years left on his current contract, and many are wondering if he will sign an extension at Anfield.

Klopp has already stated his intention to resign. When he leaves Liverpool, whether in 2024 or later, he plans to take a year off.

Klopp was asked if he would renew his contract before his team's FA Cup win over Norwich on Wednesday evening.

"I'm not sure, I really don't know," was the response.

Klopp continued, saying: "It will take time. We obviously require the time. They [the club's hierarchy] are interested in development as well as immediate results."

Former Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp was appointed Liverpool manager in October 2015 and has since won nearly every major trophy available to him.

During his tenure as manager, Klopp has won the Premier League, Champions League, EFL Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup.

The only trophies he lacks are the FA Cup and the Europa League, though due to Liverpool's current form, he is unlikely to compete for the latter any time soon.

Many expect Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard to take over at Anfield when Klopp's contract expires in the summer of 2024.

Gerrard is one of Liverpool's greatest players, having won two FA Cups, three EFL Cups, the Champions League, UEFA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and the Community Shield.

And he's off to a good start as a manager, having led Rangers to their first Scottish Premier League title in a decade last season.

When asked about his exit strategy last September, Klopp said, "It's nice that I'm asked that [his future plans] again and again."

When my contract in Liverpool expires, whatever it may be, I must first learn what it is like to live a 'normal' life again. A one-year break. That has never happened to me. But I'm completely at ease there.

"When you're gone for a year, it's also possible that no cock crows at you, which is perfectly fine. There are numerous excellent coaches available."

Gerrard was named Villa manager in November and was quick to quash the idea he's using the West Midlands club as a "stepping stone" for the Liverpool job
