Ukraine Should Prepare Because The Worst Is Yet To Come – Vladimir Putin Warns

Despite international condemnation since Russia's invasion of its neighbor seven days ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron that he will continue his war in Ukraine.

"We anticipate the worst is yet to come," an Élysée official said after the one-and-a-half-hour call between the two presidents.

Putin called Macron, but "did not offer any specific recommendations to him."

Instead, Russian President Vladimir Putin insisted on "continuity in the battle at the rate he desires."

Putin accused Ukraine of war crimes without offering evidence, claiming that Kyiv was employing human shields and acting "like Nazis," according to an Elysee official.

According to the French official, the Russian military bombardment of Ukraine appears to have no end in sight.

"Putin stated the operations were based on Ukrainians' reluctance to implement the Minsk agreements [...] the denazification of Ukraine, and that Westerners bear a significant share of blame in all of this," the official said, adding that Putin "denied bombarding Kyiv."

According to the person, Macron then told Putin that he was "making a huge mistake," that he was "telling himself stories," and that "another road was still possible."

The west believes Moscow is now turning to outright lies in order to justify a war aimed at re-establishing a Russian empire.

The West has tried to put pressure on Russia by imposing harsh sanctions on the Russian economy as well as politicians and oligarchs loyal to Putin.

Following the call, an Elysée official told reporters that France was ready to "toughen sanctions" against Russia: "We must still review those we have already put in place and we will augment them."

"Today, we have clearly shown that the gravity of the situation necessitates us strengthening sanctions and accepting the cost of sanctions," said an Elysée official. "Don't allow President Putin think he can obtain Ukraine for less money."
