We cannot deceive ourselves that it’s possible for Ghana to qualify over Nigeria if we don’t do the right thing. The Super Eagles named their squad for the double header today and it’s safe to say the Black Stars need to do more.
One factor that has worried the Ghana senior national team is the quality of fullbacks we select. Now isn’t a good time to depend on Andy Yiadom and Baba Rahman. Here are some reasons why people consider it suicidal.
Based on these two players’ trips to the Black Stars camp, we all have seen what they offer to the team. On several occasions, they are the weakest links in our setup. They pose no threat up front and don’t defend well.
To make matters worse, go to your browser. Type “Reading FC” and go to the “Standings” tab. Reading FC has the worst defensive side in the championship this season. Then, move forward to press the “Players” tab. Guess the two regular fullbacks for them.
If Ghana wants to stand a chance of qualifying, the technical bench should take a look at several other better options.
