After four recent encounters, Asante Kotoko is yet to pick a win against Accra Hearts of Oak. Even when the Porcupines are in a form of their life, their best is a goalless draw. It is becoming the new normal.
Phobians have proven that they always have what it takes to play against Kotoko. Early last season, the Super Clash ended 0-0 when pundits had predicted a win for Kotoko. The return encounter saw the Accra side win 1-0 and continued to win the league.
We all thought things will be different this season, especially when the Fabulous club dominate and win league matches. Hearts turned up and surprised many people with an excellent performance. Kotoko couldn’t use that advantage.
Life gave both sides an opportunity to battle again in the President’s Cup. In summary, Hearts tamed Kotoko and disciplined them. This extends Hearts’ supremacy over Kotoko, in terms of scoring the other to lift a trophy in recent times.
Pressure remains on Asante Kotoko to redeem themselves from this prolonged, humiliating record. First, they have to start winning against Hearts before they explore the “4-0” feat. Their next chance will be the home game against Hearts at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
