In 1993, Roy Keane scored the game-winning goal against Manchester City at Maine Road, but Micah Richards was not delighted with the Irishman's celebration.

Micah Richards warmed himself for the Manchester derby by resurrecting Roy Keane's goal celebration against Manchester City in 1993.

Manchester United great Keane scored the game-winning goal in Manchester United's 3-2 victory over City at Maine Road 19 years ago.

Because the fiery Irishman was better renowned for his tough tackling than his goal-scoring prowess, it's safe to assume that his celebration was a touch rusty.

Keane got himself up and rushed over to the United fans before flinging himself onto the ground like a penguin after sliding in to tap home a cross from the left.

Roy Keane slid across the pitch on his back after scoring against Manchester City.

Unlike most comparable celebrations, which see players slide a few meters over the ground, Keane only managed a handful of feet, much to Richards' amusement.

"What is that?" Richards laughed as he watched it back for Sky Sports ahead of Sunday's Manchester derby. That is the most despicable celebration I have ever witnessed! What exactly is it? Please explain that to me."

"When you get the winner, last kick of the game...that was a true United team then," Keane responded.

Richards, who was having none of it, then went on to criticize the Irishman's finish, stating he "shanked it."

United's victory at Maine Road aided them in clinching the title, their second under Sir Alex Ferguson's management.

The season ended with City in 16th place, 37 points behind their local rivals.

Although the gap between the two clubs isn't quite as wide this season, United still behind Pep Guardiola's side by 19 points heading into the Manchester derby.

Although the burden was on City, Keane noted before the game that he believed they had the expertise to cope with it.

"Of course, there's a lot of pressure on City today, and you fully expect Liverpool to win football matches," he remarked.

"Man City is under pressure, but they've been used to it in recent years; they've got excellent players and a brilliant manager."

"It's all part of the process when you're playing for major teams and competing for titles."
