During Manchester United's 4-1 defeat to Manchester City, Match of the Day broadcaster Gary Lineker made a veiled jab at Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville and Roy Keane.

In the aftermath of Manchester United's humiliating 4-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, Gary Lineker appeared to make a cheeky dig at Roy Keane and Gary Neville.

At the Etihad, Ralf Rangnick's visitors were completely overwhelmed, with Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez each scoring a brace to give the hosts all three points.

United's poor performance triggered the typical post-match inquest from past Old Trafford heroes, which Match of the Day host Lineker jokingly expected.

"There's going to be an awful lot of," he tweeted.

"There'll be a lot of "This is Manchester United...we're talking about Manchester United" after this game," he tweeted.

Gary Lineker made a cheeky jibe towards Manchester United legends Roy Keane and Gary Neville

Gary Lineker made a snide remark about Roy Keane and Gary Neville, two Manchester United legends.

And he was absolutely correct.

Keane, a Red Devils legend, was blunt in his assessment of United's performance.

"Egos come into it," he continued, "you leave egos at the front door, these men are all about how do I seem." "Do you think my boots are nice?" Is my hair in good condition? Take part in the game!

"You're at Man United, and we're looking at the fans behind the goal, and they're not stupid; this squad we're rooting for has given up."

From the commentary box, Neville was equally harsh in his assessment.

Roy Keane was particularly scathing after the match

After the game, Roy Keane was very harsh.

"First and foremost, Manchester City were magnificent, particularly in the second half," he remarked.

"However, Manchester United completed the game like a complete rain." In the last 25 minutes, they were a disgrace."

United now trail City by 22 points in the Premier League rankings, a dismal number that demonstrates how far Rangnick's team still has to go to catch up to their rivals.

More importantly for Paul Pogba and his teammates, they are currently a point behind Arsenal in the race for fourth place after the Gunners beat Watford at Vicarage Road on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta's side also have three games in hand on Manchester United, who they will meet at the Emirates Stadium in late April.
