Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Sam Nettey George has expressed worry about the current crop of Police officers and the mode of recruited into the service.
Speaking about the Ghana Police Service communique interdicting personnel of the service for allegedly masterminding the growing bullion van robbery attacks, the lawmaker laid the blame at the doorstep of the ruling New Patriotic Party for recruiting their party footsoldiers who doesn't qualify.
According to the MP, between 2017 and 2020, most of the recruits were not taken through the proper methods of training and also people who lack basic learning skills have found their way into the service. He added that some of those recruiting who misbehave cannot even spell their names.
He however added that John Mahama will come to power in 2025 and will correct all the wrongs. "John Mahama will come to power in 2025 and will change the methods of recruitment to fit the 21st century standard of policing.
Sam George reiterated his commitment to oversee that the correct things are done especially in the Service to avert the rising casing cases of Police personnel engaging in robberies.
"If John Mahama and his interior Minister fails to address the problems in the Police Service and the recruitment processes, I will take him on and make sure something is done to improve the service, he said.
