North Tongu MP and former deputy education minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has surprisingly applauded the President for finally exhibiting good judgement.
President Akufo-Addo left Ghana for the Dubai Expo in a commercial flight on Monday instead of his ultra-luxurious chartered executive jet which was allegedly costing the state over US$14,000 per hour.
In a Facebook post to acknowledge the President's decision to heed to the growing concerns of the high cost of his travels, the MP heaped praises on the first gentleman of the land.
"When our elected officials finally exhibit good judgement, even if it took great struggle from us, we should be courageous and objective to acknowledge their pertinent conduct.
It is important to bear in mind that the Global jet lexumborg operators of the President's favourite flying toy, Boeing 737-974YER(BBJ3) registered LX-DIO, had earlier informed their clientele that due to the prevailing global economic conditions, beginning this month of March, it would now cost approximate US$18,000 per hour and no longer US$14,000 to rent the ultimate flying symbol of obscene ostentation".
Hon. Ablakwa added that for the first time in a year, the President has had to travel outside the African continent with the LX-DIO resting at the Paris-Le Bourget Airport and it's significant and refreshing.
However, he adds this shouldn't be a fluke but a permanent conduct if the President doesn't want to use the Presidential jet.
