I like to shower a couple of times a day and enjoy feeling fresh. I’ve often asked myself the same question and what its like for you and for others:
For you: In George Orwell's book Homage to Catalonia, he describes his experiences fighting in the Spanish Civil War. Even though he was on active duty and being shot at, he was horrified at the thought of not washing and being dirty. However, he then remarks, “that after a few days, you don’t notice anymore.”
I guess that as any smell builds up slowly, you won’t really notice how smelly you are getting.
For others: Assuming you don’t shower or wash for months then eventually you will start smelling pretty bad. The odor will be less bad if you change your clothes regularly, but it will still be bad.
Showering and washing helps eliminate germs, oils, and dead skin cells from the skin. So you are also more likely to get some kind of skin disease, rash or eczema.
Some of my friends are going to get crazy ashy if they don’t wash or scrub.
