Vinicius Jr., a winger for Real Madrid, is a player who has the world at his feet. The Brazilian has already made over 150 senior appearances at the age of 21. He's the first player under the age of 21 to do so.
While enjoying his time with Los Blancos, the kid revealed in an interview why he chose Real Madrid over Barcelona. In his mind, ending up on his present team was part of his destiny, according to the Brazilian great. He took the opportunity to speak with MadridistaReal about his experience at the Santiago Bernabeu. In response to a specific question regarding why he chose Real over Barcelona, the 21-year-old said:
“It wasn't difficult to persuade me. Real Madrid had always been evident to me as my destiny."
Vinicius was barely 18 years old when he joined Real Madrid in 2018. Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, and Cristiano Ronaldo, whom he calls his hero, were all ahead of the young Selecao attacker. As a result, the Brazilian was assigned to Real Madrid B for a while before being promoted to the first team. He made five appearances for Castilla, including a substitute appearance in a 0-0 draw against Atletico Madrid on September 29, 2018.
However, Barcelona had been linked with the Brazilian winger before he signed a contract with the 13-time UEFA Champions League winners. Vinicius, on the other hand, wound up in Madrid for a speculated sum of around €46 million, making him the second most expensive teenager in the world, behind only Neymar, who Barcelona paid €57.1 million for in 2013.
Vini Jr., on the other hand, might not have had such a big impact if it hadn't been for his international teammates Marcelo and Casemiro. They took the youngster under their wing, assisting him in acclimating to one of the world's most prestigious clubs.
When asked if the Brazilian duo made the transfer from Santos to Madrid simpler, he stated the following. In an interview with a Spanish newspaper, he said: "Thank you a lot. They had a remarkable human element about them, and they never stopped offering me counsel. They continue to provide me advise, which makes me feel like a wealthy young man. I am grateful to God for bringing me into contact with such wonderful people."
Continued the youngster: "With them, everything became a lot easier. They treated me with kindness. Everything seemed new and huge to me because I was so young. Only those who have experienced what I have have an understanding of what I am talking about."
Real Madrid leads the table with 63 points after 27 games, thanks to Vini Jr.'s excellent play.
Former suitors Barcelona sit in third place with 48 points, though it could have been a different tale if the Brazilian had chosen to join the Catalans instead
