Inter Milan defeated Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield, however due to their aggregate score, they were unable to progress for the Champions League quarter-finals.

After a 2-0 loss at home three weeks ago against a Liverpool squad that is nearly impossible to beat at home, Milan had a mountain to climb to continue their trip. Inter, on the other hand, came into the match with a lot of confidence after a convincing victory in Serie A.

Inter's Simone Inzaghi's side had been competitive in the first leg, conceding only two goals from Liverpool's two efforts on target, and they put in another strong showing in the second leg. Liverpool, on the other hand, came the closest to scoring, with Joel Matip hitting the ball against the crossbar and Mohamed Salah striking the foot of the post.

In the 61st minute, Lautaro Martinez scored the game's only goal. Alisson had no chance of stopping the ball from arrowing into the net after his effort from 20 yards out.

Inter's chances of forcing extra time with a second goal were dashed two minutes later when Alexis Sanchez, a former Arsenal and Manchester United attacker, was sent off for a second yellow card.

In the last quarter of the game, Liverpool had no more concerns as they continued to dominate a tired Inter squad, with Salah hitting the post for the second time, meaning Inter beat Liverpool in the Champions League for the first time.

Jurgen Klopp's side's unbeaten streak dates back to last season, but they won't be too concerned because their hard effort in the San Siro proved decisive.
