Manchester United is keeping an eye on Lyon forward Moussa Dembele this summer as they attempt to revamp their attack.
With Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard's contracts expiring, the Old Trafford club are likely to make changes to their front line.
As he enters the final year of his contract, Marcus Rashford's future is becoming increasingly uncertain, while Cristiano Ronaldo and Anthony Martial are also considering leaving the club.
Dembele started his career with Celtic as a teenager before moving to Lyon two years later.
Because his current contract expires in 2023, Lyon risks losing him as a free agent if new terms cannot be reached. If Lyon decides not to extend his contract, the 25-year-old could be available for as little as £25 million.
Memphis Depay has already left Lyon on a free transfer, and defender Jason Denayer appears to be on his way out this summer.
They'd do anything to avoid a repeat of the situation with Dembele, who has nine goals in 19 league appearances this season, including five in his previous seven.
Dembele has Champions League experience, having scored twice in Lyon's quarter-final victory over Manchester City in 2020. He also had an assist in Lyon's 1-0 Europa League win over Porto on Wednesday night.
He is familiar with the English game, having previously played for Fulham. Indeed, his time there qualifies him as a homegrown player if he joins an English club.
