Manchester United's camp has been far from cheerful this season, with technical director Darren Fletcher assisting Ralf Rangnick at Carrington.

As Manchester United's technical director, Darren Fletcher is attempting to maintain unity at the training facility, he is juggling two roles.

Ralf Rangnick has taken over as interim manager at Old Trafford following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Cristiano Ronaldo has returned after a 12-year absence, and Ed Woodward has moved on from the stands.

However, it is at Carrington where problems appear to be a daily occurrence, as players and coaches struggle to communicate effectively.

Rangnick came in with a reputation for a high-pressure game, but he has been unable to put it into practice, which has been frustrating.

Meanwhile, some key players have had their own problems this season, whether it's with one another or with the present manager.

Will Manchester United be able to finish in the top four? Let us know what you think in the comments!

Darren Fletcher has had to act as peacekeeper within the Man Utd ranks

Within Man United's ranks, Darren Fletcher has had to operate as a peacekeeper.

As a result, according to the Sun, Fletcher has had to act as a mediator on the training pitch. Despite his function as a technical director, the 38-year-old commands a lot of respect on the red half of Manchester and has been a fixture on the bench during games.

The absence of Cristiano Ronaldo in Manchester City's derby defeat at the Etihad on Sunday caused a stir.

Due to a hip flexor ailment, the Portuguese star was unable to play and flew back to Portugal, leaving Rangnick to answer questions about the situation.

Ronaldo and Harry Maguire are said to have had a spat, with the centre-back, who is off of form, refusing to hand over the armband and being frustrated by some responsibilities taken on by the 37-year-old.

As he struggles for form and minutes, Marcus Rashford is reported to be weighing his own future.

He came on as a substitute during the Manchester derby, however he was generally unproductive due to his lack of confidence.

As the Red Devils try to break into the top four, Fletcher's input has Rangnick's permission.

The importance of this weekend's game against Tottenham at Old Trafford has increased as a result of their recent defeat.

Ralf Rangnick has struggled to get his ideas across

Ralf Rangnick has failed to communicate his thoughts.

United will undergo a rebuild in the summer, with changes in the dugout and the playing group, but luring the best players will be difficult if they cannot compete in the Champions League.

The club is already on the verge of losing Paul Pogba, who is out of contract in the summer and has had talks about extending his contract put on hold for the time being.

Edinson Cavani is one of a number of players who could leave the club, with Dean Henderson and others also considering their options.
