Residents of La are wailing over what they described as undue delay in the redevelopment of the demolished general hospital as far back in March 2020. President Akufo-Addo cut the sod for the hospital's redevelopment which he said would be fit for purpose after an integrity assessment revealed some cracks and weaknesses in the hospital's structures.

Following the demolition of the structure, the people of La have blamed the lack of a proper health facility in the area for what they call needless deaths. The decision to demolish and abandon the project was deemed evil by the residents. They claim they are now required to assess health care in distant communities under deplorable conditions.

Government response to the residents concerns.

The honorable Akandoh, ranking member of Parliament's health committee, visited the site, and discovered that there was only one trip of sand and gravel and that weeds had taken over the area.

When Citi FM Umaru Sanda questioned Dr. Nsiah Asare about why it had taken two years for work to begin, he responded that they were working on the value for money audit and that the contractor would soon move to the site.

When asked why there was such a rush to demolish the hospital when they knew it would take that long, he responded that it does not usually take that long and that there were other factors that caused the work to be delayed.

However, the honorable Mintah Akandoh, who stated that loan facilities approved by parliament always comes with a value for money audit, called Dr. Nsiah Asare's statement into question.

He believes that every statement made by the government on the subject exposes the lies they seek to spread.

He claimed that the delay in starting work on the project was caused by a misapplication of the funds allotted for it.

He challenged them to prove him wrong by completing the abandoned La General Hospital if the funds were not misappropriated.
