It is said you can change your world by changing your words. Words have power and one must be careful how they are used. The Bible says life and death are in the power of the tongue. Parents out of frustrations do use words that can negatively affect their children in the future. In this article, i will walk you through words that you must never use.
"You stupid boy/girl."
The behavior of most children today is a clear manifestation of the words used against them by their parents. The English dictionary defines "stupid" as "having or showing a great lack of intelligence or common sense". You can't say these things to your children and expect them to prosper in the future. These children then begin to struggle academically, and we begin to complain once more. Among the Gurune people of the Upper East, if a parent uses words that are considered to be a curse, Certain rites are performed and there is a reunion between parent and child to foster better relationships moving forward. This is because they believe that these words may manifest in the life of the child since they came from the child's direct parent.
So, the next time your children offend you and you need to cool down, consider saying something like this instead of insulting them. You can use terms like "you that bright lad or girl," or "this child with a bright future." Change your words starting now, and you'll almost certainly be affecting the future of your children for the better.
"You are an idiot"
This is a term that is frequently misused. Parents and teachers utilize it on children without considering the consequences. An idiot, according to the Oxford definition, is a person who is a complete moron. This should never be used on anyone, much less on a parent's own children.
God tells us in His Word that the tongue has incredible power, and we must harness this power positively to change the destiny of our children. So the next time your children pester you, you must resist the temptation of using negative words like "stupid" and "idiot" and switch to positive words that bless them instead.
