Parliamentary sittings have been stalled for two days as the minority MPs demand a strict enforcement of the standing orders of the house.

According to Joy News' Parliamentary correspondent, Thursday and Friday's sitting were adjourned due to absenteeism from both sides.

As per the standing orders of the house, before the business of the house can commence, there should be at least half of the members present to form a quorum which hasn't been the situation in the past two days forcing the NDC caucus to demand for an enforcement of the standing orders of the house.

1st Deputy Speaker, Joe Osei Owusu after breaking for almost twenty minutes to allow an announcement to MPs to be present for sitting, adjourned proceedings which was resisted by the deputy majority leader.

Absenteeism in the law making chamber is becoming rampant. According to Murtala Mohammed, MP for Tamale North, the NDC will demand for the enforcement of all provisions of the constitution and standing orders of the house.
