In the aftermath of Manchester United's top-four game with Tottenham Hotspur, David De Gea, who has found his finest form this season, has been diagnosed with an illness.

Manchester United's David de Gea has been ruled out of Saturday's crucial match against Tottenham Hotspur, with Dean Henderson likely to make a rare start in goal.

In the aftermath of the top-four encounter, the Spanish goalkeeper, who has found his best form for the Red Devils this season, has been diagnosed with an illness.

There were rumors that De Gea would be rested against Spurs before of the second leg of United's Champions League last-16 encounter against Atletico Madrid, but that decision was taken away from United, who will now hope he can perform.

Henderson, who turns 25 today, is set to start despite the fact that only Henderson, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and a few coaching staff members arrived at The Lowry Hotel on Friday night, despite the fact that the remainder of Ralf Rangnick's squad did not.

Henderson hasn't played in the Premier League since the final day of last season at Wolves, and he's only appeared three times this season, against West Ham in the League Cup, Young Boys in the Champions League group stage, and Middlesbrough in the FA Cup.

After De Gea displaced Henderson as United's No. 1 this season, the former Sheffield United loanee was extensively linked with a transfer away from Old Trafford in January, with the former Sheffield United loanee dissatisfied with his sudden loss in playing time.

Rangnick's side will be devastated by De Gea's absence, as the Spanish international has frequently saved them this season with a series of outstanding displays.

United are desperate for three points against Antonio Conte's side after losing ground in the top four battle with a dismal derby loss to Manchester City last weekend.

With Arsenal a point ahead of United and three games in hand, there is minimal room for mistake from now until the end of the season.

Former United veteran Roy Keane believes the Gunners are currently the frontrunners for the final Champions League slot.

Dean Henderson is set for a rare start against Tottenham

Dean Henderson is expected to make his first start of the season against Tottenham Hotspur.

"Considering where they were at the start of the season, it's been an unbelievable turnaround, and now they're definitely favourites to finish in the top four," he told Sky Sports.

"We've always wondered if they're a little soft, but they're at a wonderful place right now, and they've always had that quality."

"They found a way to win the football match against Wolves, they kept going and scored a late goal, that's the key to success, you can have bad days but you find a way to win, and it was a vital three points for them."
