Christian Pulisic was a role model for Jadon Sancho while the American was at Borussia Dortmund, according to the Manchester United star.

Sancho was essentially a stand-in for Pulisic after the American joined Chelsea in the summer of 2019. Sancho returned to England in the summer of 2021 to join Manchester United after four successful years at Borussia Dortmund.

Pulisic made his debut for Dortmund as a teenager in 2016, and was considered one of the top young prospects in the world at the time.

Sancho said he looked up to Pulisic and attempted to emulate what the American accomplished at such a young age at Borussia Dortmund. According to Sancho, who spoke to Sky Sports Germany, "The club made every effort to help me. Then I looked at who else was in Dortmund. Christian Pulisic, for example, who was only 19 at the time, was nearly a role model for me. When I saw him, I thought to myself, "That might be me." Dortmund fortunately offered me this opportunity, and I believe I performed a good job."

"I wouldn't say I began a trend, as some claim. However, it's possible that other young English players have gained greater confidence in choosing the club where they want to play since then "Added he.

Sancho is yet to settle in at Manchester United.

Although Jadon Sancho's recent performances have improved, he is yet to demonstrate consistency at Manchester United.

Sancho scored the single goal for Manchester United in their 4-1 derby loss to Manchester City last weekend, but he also had a chance to tie the game before halftime.

The former Dortmund midfielder was a member of a club that used a hard-pressing approach to win the ball high up the pitch. At Manchester United, however, this is not the case. Sancho has had to adjust his game as a result of having to play in a different setting. However, his recent performances have been quite promising, and he will look to add more goals to his game in order to help the Red Devils finish in the top four.

Sancho has made 23 Premier League appearances so far this season, scoring three goals in the process.
