The latest Manchester United news for Sunday, March 13th.

Conte's comparison of Ronaldo to Messi

After seeing Cristiano Ronaldo steal the show at Old Trafford, Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte lauded him as one of the game's greatest-ever players. Ronaldo scored a hat-trick to lead Manchester United to a 3-2 Premier League victory over Tottenham Hotspur, pushing them back into fourth position.

It broke Ronaldo's 10-game goal drought in 2022, but Conte never doubted his skill, praising the 37-year-capacity old's to still be at the top of his game at this stage of his career. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner's outstanding performance comes at a crucial time for the Reds, following Lionel Messi's ineffectiveness in Real Madrid's Champions League defeat.

As they attempt to qualify for the quarter-finals on Tuesday, United will be looking for more of the same from their star attacker. Ronaldo will be eager to add to his tally against his former opponents, with the score tied at one apiece.

Rangnick is singled out by Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo was the star of the show against Spurs.

After Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick in a match-winning effort against Tottenham, Ralf Rangnick quipped that Manchester United should let him visit Portugal more often. The 37-year-old had to drag the Reds out of the abyss when Harry Kane fought back with a penalty before a Harry Maguire own goal in the second half cancelled out Ronaldo's second.

After missing the 4-1 loss to City on Sunday, Ronaldo returned to the starting lineup, with Bruno Fernandes out due to sickness. His solo effort helped United reclaim fourth place in the Premier League table.

Rangnick had no idea. Ronaldo had gone to Portugal after being ruled out of the derby, and the 37-year-old had only completed two full training sessions prior to the Spurs match. His absence from training and the derby defeat, though, was due to a hip-flexor problem.
