The honorable Nelson Dafeamekpor, the member of parliament (MP)for South Dayi in the Volta region, has joined many others in questioning the Attorney General's stance, claiming that the only way for SALL to gain representation in the eighth parliament is to annul the Buem election and hold new elections with SALL. He said that would be a convenient decision. He asks a rhetorical question. He wanted to know under which constituency the people of Santrokofi Akpafu, Likpe, Logba (SALL) voted for the presidential elections? They voted in polling stations and which constituency are these polling stations located, the MP asks.
The MP vows to file a private motion over the SALL issue.
The South Dayi MP has hinted that he will be filing a private motion in parliament to see to it that the people of SALL get the representation they deserve. The MP revealed this in an interview with TV3 news in Accra. He said, the thinking that adding SALL to Buem is the only way for them to get representation is not here or there.
The MP believes the private motion that he will be filing will help him know which constituency SALL residents voted under for the presidential election and if possible help them get their representation.
As you may recall, the people of SALL were asked to vote in the presidential elections while the parliamentary elections were postponed for the four traditional areas.
SALL residents have refused their inclusion in Buem.
The people of SALL have however refused to be included in the Buem constituency for them to get representation in the eighth parliament.
They say there is a history behind them leaving Buem and that those making those suggestions are trying to scratch an old wound. They wondered why the Attorney General did not suggest that they be added to the Hohoe constituency where they were carved from, but suggested Buem. This call was made by the assembly members of the area who spoke to Citi News. They calls of the residents was amplified by an Attorney General under the Rawlings era, Dr. Obed Asamoah. Mr. Asamoah called Godfred Dame suggestion needless, indicating that those resouces should be used to create the constituency for SALL.
