The golden boot award is one of La Liga's most prized individual honors. This honor is given to the player with the most goals scored at the end of a La Liga season.
So far, Memphis Depay, Angel Correa, and Iago Aspas have all been in contention, but all three are trailing Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, who has established himself as one of Europe's most prolific strikers this season. However, after yesterday's games, which saw the likes of Barcelona and Real Sociedad return to action, I've decided to write this piece to highlight the current La Liga Golden Boot rankings.
Karim Benzema is the first player on the list (20 league goals)
The Frenchman is slowly but steadily establishing himself as one of Europe's most productive attackers. To be honest, Karim Benzema has always been a consistent goal scorer. At his age, the fact that he has managed to bring his season goal total to 20 is reason enough to give him the recognition he deserves. When his team plays Mallorca later today, he should be able to add to his tally.Vinicius Junior is number two (13 league goals)
Raul de Tomas is number three on the list (13 league goals)
4. Uncommon (13 league goals)
Iago Aspas (13 goals) is in fifth place.
So far, so good for Celta Vigo's Iago Aspas, who now has a total of 13 goals. The Spaniard is gaining a reputation as a reliable goal scorer.
Juanmi is number six (12 goals)
Joselu is number seven (12 goals)
Correa, no. 8 (11 league goals)
Memphis Depay (nine) (10 goals)
Guedes, number ten (10 goals)What are your thoughts on this? Do you believe Karim Benzema has what it takes to score at least 30 goals this season in La Liga? What are your thoughts on Vinicius Junior's current performance?
