On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, Manchester United's loan players had mixed success.
As the 2021/2022 season approaches its conclusion, there is plenty going on away from Old Trafford, with some clubs targeting promotion and others fending off relegation danger. Leeds United handed Brandon Williams and his Norwich City colleagues a heartbreaking defeat.
Meanwhile, James Garner had reason to rejoice as Nottingham Forest continued their winning ways in the Championship. Here's the most recent round-up from the United States:
Amad Diallo (Rangers): Amad was given a welcome cameo by the Scottish giants during their domestic cup triumph over Dundee on Sunday afternoon, after finding playing time difficult to come by. For the final 23 minutes, he came on to replace Ryan Kent, and he now has a chance to play in the semi-finals.
Tahith Chong (Birmingham City): On Saturday afternoon, St Andrew's offered enough of interest for United fans who keep an eye on the future generation. Despite the fact that fellow Academy grads Teden Mengi (Birmingham) and Di'Shon Bernard (Hull City) were unused substitutes in the 1-1 draw, Chong played 90 minutes.
Ethan Galbraith (Doncaster Rovers): In their most recent encounter, Doncaster and Galbraith were defeated by a first-minute goal by Gillingham. The Northern Irishman, on the other hand, added another 90 to his tally.
Nottingham Forest's James Garner: Garner's birthday was memorable, as he celebrated his 21st with a 4-0 Championship victory over Reading. Forest are on track to make the play-offs thanks to his contributions. Garner will play QPR and Liverpool in the FA Cup between now and Sunday afternoon, with the latter match being selected for live coverage on ITV.
Anthony Martial (Sevilla): Against Rayo Vallecano, Martial had to make do with a bench appearance. Former United winger Bebe opened the scoring for Rayo in a 1-1 tie between the two teams. Sevilla is still seven points behind Real Madrid in the La Liga leaderboard.
Brandon Williams (Norwich City): During a tumultuous match against relegation rivals Leeds, Williams and his Norwich teammates suffered heartbreak. After Rodrigo had opened the scoring, Kenny McLean equalized in additional time, but Joe Gelhardt had the ultimate say with a spectacular, last-gasp victory at the other end. It was a difficult loss for Norwich, who remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.
Everton's only goal difference separates them from the bottom three, and the alarm bells are ringing at Goodison Park. Donny van de Beek (Everton): Everton's only goal difference separates them from the bottom three, and the alarm bells are ringing at Goodison Park. They do, however, have three games in hand on Watford. Van van Beek was on the pitch for the complete 90 minutes as the Toffees suffered their fourth straight defeat.
