The Donetsk youth manager took to social media to pay tribute to the Ukraine international, who is still stranded in his homeland.

Giorgi Sudakov has the ability to play for Barcelona or Manchester City, according to Shakhtar Donetsk youth coach Fernando Valente, who also claimed that the latter is stuck in a bunker amid the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict.

Last month, Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin authorized an invasion of their neighboring Eastern European country, igniting Europe's largest theater of battle since WWII and forcing the suspension of all professional leagues in Ukraine.

Valente paid tribute to Sudakov, a thrice-capped Ukraine international who made his senior debut last season, on social media, saying his "heart is crushed" and that he and the rest of the country are caught up in a "senseless war."

"Valente wrote, "Sudakov was the most gifted player I had ever coached." "A beautiful human being with a little baby on the way with his wife Lisa, a Ukrainian international who recently renewed his contract with Shakhtar until 2026... "They had ambitions, ambitions that had been stolen away by a bunker for a pointless war. I pray for this pair, as well as all of the young players and friends I met in Ukraine during my two years there. "I'm in a bad way." "Sudakov is a lad with huge potential, he may even play for Barcelona or Manchester City," Valente added to Portuguese agency Agnecia Lusa. He was the best player I ever had the pleasure of coaching, and we had a great time together.”

Sudakov is one of many Ukrainian football stars detained or battling the Russian invasion in their home country. Others, like West Ham's Andriy Yarmolenko, who broke down in tears after scoring against Aston Villa at the weekend, have continued to play for their teams in Europe.

Meanwhile, as part of a wide set of sporting sanctions imposed against Russia, the country is still barred from club and international competition in Europe.
