Diego Simeone, the manager of Atletico Madrid, ran off the Old Trafford pitch after his team's victory over Manchester United and was pelted with bottles by enraged fans.
Manchester United fans threw bottles at Diego Simeone as he exited the ground after Atletico Madrid knocked the Red Devils out of the Champions League.
On Tuesday night, Renan Lodi scored the game's only goal as Real Madrid defeated Man United 2-1 on aggregate to go to the quarter-finals.
Simeone made a rapid dart as soon as the final whistle blew, like he has done many times throughout his managerial tenure.
However, he was targeted by a part of the Red Devils' fanbase, who were spotted throwing bottles at the manager as he walked to the tunnel.
Simeone didn't pause to respond to the situation, instead sprinting down the tunnel and into the away changing room to await his teammates.
Simeone dashed down the tunnel at the sound of the whistle, passing by enraged United supporters. Simeone did not pause to react to what the fans were doing. Instead, he dashed down the tunnel to await the return of his team from the pitch.
'I don't enjoy the greeting after the match because these are the feelings of two teams in different emotional minds,' Simeone stated before when asked why he doesn't stay around after games to shake hands.
'I realize it's a British tradition, but I don't share it, and I don't like the potential for deception.'
'I don't know Klopp personally, but I know he's a fantastic coach who has accomplished a lot.'
