Embattled #FixTheCountry convener Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor has finally been granted bail by a Tema High Court.
He was granted bail on Wednesday, March 16, having been in custody since Friday, February 11 when he was picked up at the Kotoka International Airport
The bail was granted at GH¢2 million with two sureties. One of the sureties should have documents covering land properties.
His travelling passport, which had been seized because he was considered a flight risk, will still be in safekeeping of the prosecution.
He is also expected to report himself once a week at the station of arrest
The private legal practitioner is already facing charges of treason felony at the Ashaiman District Court, which denied him bail on his first day in court on Monday, February 14.
Efforts to get him bailed at the superior court were protracted after the Attorney General wrote to Justice Daniel Mensah that the applicant, among other reasons, has no fixed place of abode in Ghana, thus making him a flight risk.
The state attorney on Monday, March 14 told the Court that he could even likely abscond through the land borders as witnessed about some high-risk suspects in the past.
The social media activist was immediately picked up from KIA after he disembarked from the TAP Air Portugal flight TP 1527 he had boarded from the UK.
He had posted on Facebook that: “If this E-Levy passes after this cake bullshit, I will do the coup myself. Useless Army.”
This post is what warranted his arrest and concomitant trial.
