Luis Enrique who is currently the coach of the Spanish senior men's team has called up his squad for the first international games of the year. He has summoned a 23- man squad which includes three goalkeepers, eight defenders, five midfielders, and six attackers. The goalkeepers are Unai Simon, Robert Sanchez, and David Raya. The other players are Jordi Alba, Marcos Alonso, Pau Torres, Aymeric Laporte, Eric Garcia, Diego Llorente, Cesar Azipilicueta, Carjaval, Pedri Gonzalez, Marcos Llorente, Rodri, Koke, Gavi, Carlos Soler, Dani Almo, Sarabia, Alvaro Morata, Raul De Tomas, Ferran Torres, and Yeremy. The team faces Albania and Iceland on 26th and 29 March respectively.
Luis Enrique speaks of the possibility of welcoming Gerard Pique to the Spanish National team claiming he meets the requirements. Enrique also spoke on players who have suffered injuries and were not called up. He believes Pedri Gonzalez can decide the path he wishes since he has a lot of mentors. He has rested Sergio Busquets due to many minutes accumulated in club football. Jordi Alba is likely to captain the Spanish team.
