A large section of Real Madrid left the stadium after 60th minutes in a stuttering defeat which led to their team's loss for the first time in three years. Barcelona won 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium and the goal scorers were Pierre Aubameyang who scored a brace, Ferran Torres and Ronald Araujo. The win ensures Barcelona continues to clinch to third place with the possibility of going second in the next game against Sevilla. Ancelotti, the current coach of Real Madrid apologize to the team players and fans after the game and took the blame for the defeat. Eden Hazard has not played a single game of el classic since joining Real Madrid from Chelsea and was not lucky to debut in the game last night despite Karim Benzema suffering an injury. Real Madrid have a possibility of winning La Liga title if they win a maximum of six games in the coming fixtures.

The game was estimated by most Real Madrid players who expected an easy tie due to six days rest against a Barcelona side who have been underwhelming and just played an away game against Turkish side Galastaray on Thursday. Barcelona entered the game as underdogs despite going on a thirteen-game unbeaten streak and bested their opponent with full advantage. Xavi Hernadez, the current coach of Barcelona believes that the victory can change the dynamics of the present and the future and admonish his players to continue to compete since they haven't won a trophy yet. Aubameyang was the first player to have a 3 goal and assist in his first el clasico game in the 21st century. The starting eleven for Barcelona was: Ter Stegen, Araujo, Pique, Garcia, Alba, Pedri, De jong, Busquests, Dembele, Ferran and Aubameyang and that of Real Madrid was: Courtois, Militao, Alaba, Carjaval, Kroos, Casemiro, Modric, Vinicius, Rodrygo and Valverde.
